Charged with filing false police report for giving my accurate recollection of accident

I have severe intellectual disabilities and did my best to explain what happened. I never saw the vehicle turning. And I have a very hard time explaining my thoughts or experiences to people. My IQ is around 45 or below.

What's your opinion on my lawyer wanting me to plead guilty instead of going to a jury? Is it because she's a Public Defender and just wants to get through her cases fast or could it be something else?

The more I read about public defenders on this and other sites leads me to conclude that they are overworked and underpaid and, yes, I do think they want to get through their cases as fast as possible without having to go to trial.

I told my caretaker that I would rather risk spending 1 year in jail for something I didn't do then plead guilty for something I didn't do.

That's entirely up to you but this layman's two cents worth is that the charge is unfounded. I would urge you to consult a private attorney even if you can't afford one. Initial consultations are typically free or low cost for a half hour or so just to get a second opinion.

This isn't the first time my words got my in trouble. I got a DUI when sleeping in my car at home because a cop thought my speech sounded like I was under the influence and how I explained things wasn't what a sober person would do. I waited 3 months for them to drop that once the blood test came back.

Yeah, they do make mistakes.

Thank you so much! You're the nicest person I've met in forever. Yea, I will try my best to speak with a private attorney! And see what they have to say. I really like that idea. I just moved to this small town and most the people in the town seem to be nice. They always treat me so good when I greet them at the restaurant I work at and always say I'm the nicest person they've met there or any food place. Hopefully, the private attorney doesn't cost too much. I used a whole years salary to just get out of jail. So, I think I'll have to sell my stuff to try to afford one but it's okay as long as I get the proper help.
