Me and my girlfriend moved into a house with her friend. My girl got locked up so now her friend has thrown my things out and me. I have been sleeping on her porch for 2 days and now she wants me off. I had been there since the first of November and I receive mail there as well. Do I have any rights here?

Were you rent paying tenants or guests of the friend? Why was your GF "locked up"? How old are you?

Just to be clear - the person doesn't have to "pay" anything in order to become a tenant. Things done in exchange for living there can also establish a tenancy.

Yes we gave her $200 a month, and we brought groceries. She was on probation and had dirty urine. I'm 49.

As well as kept her house cleaned because she stayed drugged up on morphine patches, and nerve pills.

Then you are likely a tenant and should be afforded all the protections that a landlord/tenant relationship provides. You can call the police for assistance in regaining entry to the place. Of course, doing so may place you at risk of having claims of violence lodged against you.

Assuming the 'she' is the person who threw you out, it shouldn't matter to you whether she wants the police involved or not. The question starts with whether YOU want or need the police involved or not. She doesn't get to pick and choose what you report.

C'mon man. This situation is over. Pull you self together and start finding a way forward.

You have been around long enough to see that. No injustice is being done to you that you didn't choose. This isn't a landlord abusing you.

I have to agree with xylene on this one.

You can argue you have "rights" here and as a possible "tenancy at will" tenant you could argue you need a 60 day notice to terminate this type of tenancy but let's be honest here...if the local law enforcement is called what do you really believe will happen?

Do you have any actual documentation regarding paying this $200 a month "rent"? If not, you're likely to be told you were a guest and to get the heck out off the place.
