Georgia. I'm not legitimized yet I I file for legitimacy on Monday. I found out through her family that she's strung out really bad on heroin. I want to call defax but I don't want my son to end up in the system do I need to get legitimised before I call defax on her in case they do find out to be true she's strung out on heroin or can I call them and if they find out the worst well they contact me to get custody of him instead of putting him in the system first since I'm not legitimized.

It would be better if you file for legitimization and some form of shared custody before you get dfacs involved. Unless the situation is so dire that it cannot wait and your child would be better off in foster care. If her family is stepping in to help with the child and therefore the situation is not actually dire, I would definitely wait.

That's what I figured. Thank you. If her family wasn't around I would call. I appreciate you
