I think it is a civil, not criminal issue.
Theft is criminal.I think it is a civil, not criminal issue.
Depending on facts not know here, it could be civil or criminal.I think it is a civil, not criminal issue.
I'd lean toward criminal.Of course, it could be but based on the facts we do have here I'd lean towards civil.
IF a theft/conversion occurred, it could be criminal. The OP's got the initial hurdle of proving that anything is missing in the first place. Because of this, the police are more likely than not to suggest that the OP seek compensation through the civil courts.I'd lean toward criminal.
Or fraud, if claiming valuable items were taken that were not.IF a theft/conversion occurred, it could be criminal. That would also be civil most likely. What wouldn't be civil is the claim of filing a false police report (if the police believe that to be the case.)Or fraud, if claiming valuable items were taken that were not.
I see several hurdles.IF a theft/conversion occurred, it could be criminal. The OP's got the initial hurdle of proving that anything is missing in the first place. Because of this, the police are more likely than not to suggest that the OP seek compensation through the civil courts.
Quincy, do you have your parents' permission to be logged on during school hours? I mean, if you are a teen, you really should.I am posting from a cell phone. Almost everything is scrolled out of view - except, interestingly, an ad for Sotheby's Institute of Art's "two week course for teens." Someone (looking at you here, Google) picked up on the Mona Lisa reference.
Oh. FreeAdvice handles US law questions only. The laws in the UK are different. Sorry. This is in the UK.
Is the entire box missing it just the valuables? Did the holder have the key/combination to the lockbox?
It was a keyed box easily opened when picked. Box is still there, but empty.
Did you permit them to access the contents?
No just store. No signs of break into the property. Cant say was a burgulary definalty a internal job.
Why were they holding the lockbox for you?
Safe keeping while away. Silly mistake should have paid for a locker.
