I doubt that the “legal system” is corrupt, as claimed. The accused is simply learning that the penalties in Texas for his alleged drug offenses can be severe.

If he cannot with the help of a good criminal defense attorney mount a successful defense to the charges, he can spend time in jail. A conviction will not be an impressive addition to his resume.

Fleeing to another country only adds to the charges against him and adds to his chances of winding up in jail.

It also add charges for those that aide and abet.
