What is the name of your state? Arizona

For many years my son's federal and state income tax refunds have been intercepted by Arizona's Child Support Division to pay down his arrears.

Will his stimulus check also be intercepted?

quincy is right. Just to give you the explanation of how it works, as you know this stimulus payment is treated as an income tax refund and income tax refunds are subject to offsets for certain debts owed the federal government, state government income tax obligations, and support obligations. In the CARES Act that provides for the stimulus refund it states that the refund is not subject to most of those offsets, with the very notable exception that child support obligations were not included in the list of offsets that were turned off.

Using that word “refund” a lot, Taxing. ;)
Just reflecting the actual Act and the Code, which also use the word refund a lot. :D

And while those owing delinquent child support won't get the stimulus check, they still benefit from the reduction in their child support obligation and hopefully their kid(s) will benefit from it in this difficult economic environment.

I would LOVE for my ex's $1,200 to be redirected to me. It's not quite a plane, but I'll take it!
