Hello everyone. I'm originally from Kentucky and received my SSI many, many years ago. What happens if I switched states? I would like to move to Michigan but it's such a scary move for me right now because I'm afraid that I'll get up here and not be able to have access to doctors.

Please elaborate as to what your concern is since lots of things will "happen[] if [you] switched states." Also, why are you receiving SSI?

Are you really talking about Medicaid or Medicare? It is quite possible that you would have to reapply for Medicaid or Medicare if you move to a different state. You would need to speak with your caseworker about that.

Michigan has doctors.
Michigan has doctors, sure. But I think what is implied in MrKlown's post is a concern that he may lose his medical benefits or that few doctors in whatever place he goes in Michigan wouldn't take Medicaid. When one has limited options for health insurance that's not an unreasonable concern. There are doctors and medical practices that will not accept Medicaid, for example.
