There can be some legal repercussions for background check companies that are notified of an error and don’t move to correct it, though.

I wonder what the wording concerning the back ground ?s were? Any arrests, convictions or charges in the questions. Assault is a huge red flag as with theft. Even though no conviction it can relate to character and choices.

PatSmiley did not disclose a pending misdemeanor assault charge.

Pending criminal charges are never good and not disclosing pending criminal charges - and having these discovered by the prospective employer - is also never good.

I am not surprised that the contingent offer was withdrawn.
