Dear sir and madam,
I want to adopt an American Citizen Child, because I and my wife are infertiles. We have infertility problems. We can not have babies by anyway, and we have medical reports approve this. In Jordan according to Islam it is prohibited to adopt a child. I have a valid tourist visa to The USA, and I was legal during my previous visits to The USA, and I have a clean record in The USA. I am Jordanian and my wife is Jordanian too. How can we adopt an American Citizen Child? and is it allowed to us? And how much it costs?. I and my wife are environmental engineers and we have masters in engineering.
Best regards,:):):giggle:(y)

There must be little Jordanian babies that you can adopt...

The issue is that adoption in Jordan is illegal. It's a tribal thing (keeping track of bloodlines) under the guise of religion.

My legal advice: emigrate elsewhere. Permanently. You are on track for getting yourself into legal trouble in Jordan.

P.S. You might even find a solution to your fertility issues in another country.

Thanks for the edification on that.

Are there alternatives to adoption such as providing long term care for a child like the US "foster care" system. Have you spoken with your religious leader about options that are permitted in your religion?

I would also expect that any US adoption agency would require US residency.

Good luck!

No, they don't. As long as the potential adoptive parent(s) are from a Hague Convention country they can be considered.

The issue isn't OP's religious beliefs: Islam is the state religion of Jordan.

For all we know, OP could be Catholic. (I know a few Catholic Jordanians.) Or even agnostic.

Thank you, and I will ask, but I do not think we have this kind of care in Jordan, and I would say I am 90% sure about this.

In Jordan it is prohibited to adopt the child by law, so how can I adopt a little baby in Jordan? I do not understand this, can you explain more for me?
This site is for United States laws only. As such, Zigner and the rest of us are unaware of Jordanian laws. You and your wife need to consult with an attorney in your country to find out what options you have. I wish you well.

I suspect that OP and his wife want to go to the US and get green cards. And they believe that if they can become adoptive parents to some random baby who is an American citizen, they can therefore get said green cards.

While that is possible, the reality of things is that the US is no longer so attractive to the rest of the world that one can necessarily assume that becoming a US green card holder would be much of an incentive to anyone.
