Quincy, interesting you should mention the lack of flu cases being reported. As one friend said to me.. it's because of face masks and hand washing... So my response was... than why wasn't COVID greatly reduced. Thoughts?

COVID is far more contagious than the flu, both because of the smaller size of the COVID particles that are transmitted by respiratory droplets AND because of the incubation period is longer with COVID. So while those with the flu start feeling sick (and thus usually are smart enough to stay away from others) within 1-4 days, those who are infected with COVID don't start showing symptoms for up to 2 weeks after infection. So they are more likely to spread it around if they aren't wearing a mask.

On this topic, the parents of nearly 2 million children were concerned enough that they allowed their kids to receive a vaccine that had not gone through formal trials - 1954, for polio. That worked out pretty well.

Covid WAS greatly reduced by face masks and handwashing. Things would have been a LOT worse without it. The flu was dramatically reduced because it was never anywhere near as contagious as covid, nor as deadly.

Update on this thread..... I am looking for a new job since being let go on March 30th. I was hired at the company for an executive assistant position but they decided that they needed someone with a "science" background 70% and secretary 30%...
While looking for work this morning on my computer on various employment sites, i came across the job again and it was just re-listed 5 days ago on one site and 3 days ago on another. Same exact job description. Hmmmmmm.... thoughts?

While looking for work this morning on my computer on various employment sites, i came across the job again and it was just re-listed 5 days ago on one site and 3 days ago on another. Same exact job description. Hmmmmmm.... thoughts?

Second, despite the re-listing of the position, my thought is that you should not apply again.

You could inquire about the position again but from your previous posts it sounds as if the executive for whom you would be assistant did not think you were right for the job.

I think you should concentrate your job search elsewhere.

They are a start up co., they fired the original management team that had someone without a science background who could have helped them out with product development. The current team will be suing them and therefore there will not be sufficient funds to pay me. They need the scientist now and not the EA at the moment. This is his story. 3.5 weeks later, the job requisition appears on line.

If you want to apply again, apply again. I think it could be a waste of your time but you obviously know more about the position than I do.

Well, initially you appeared to be "the right fit for the job". Then you started working for them and reality trumped the initial impression.

If it really were just a matter of $, and they had just freed up the $, and they thought you were so wonderful, they would have contacted you and suggested you reapply. They did not. So don't. They fired you using a reason that does not paint you in a bad light. Accept that and MOVE ON.

When someone you dated dumped you, were you this... insistent?! If so, how have you gotten this far without a string of restraining orders against you?!

So...when you called this person about the listing you saw and asked about this, what response did you get?

To answer your "thoughts?" question, the fact that the employer has re-listed the position does not raise any legal issue where none previously existed.

I'm not sure what the point of this continued discussion is. If you're looking for a way to sue this employer, none appears to exist, but feel free to consult with a local attorney.
