HOA tree root damage my backyard

What is the name of your state?
I'm living in San diego <CA. The HOA has a tree root crack on my backyard cement. I replace the cement, it costs me $4500, but HOA emailed me they want to pay me only $1000. I have a picture the tree root under the cement. I haven't answer HOA to agree for $1000. What do I need to do so they must pay full replacement cost?

You will need to review all of your HOA documents and also the review the reason that the HOA gave for you being required to pay. We don't have access to any of those documents.

I assume the HOA accepted responsibility for the damage? Did you approach your HOA before you made the repairs? Did you get more than one estimate for the repairs?

I agree with Zigner that your HOA documents and/or your HOA should give you the answers you seek.
