It is, indeed, frustrating when folks resurrect old threads and offer nothing new.

I wonder if the seven attorneys at the Benson & Bingham firm are aware of these posts.
Benson has been reported to FA’s moderator several times in the past for posting to old threads and for advertising his law firm in these posts and for claiming he is an attorney without providing the necessary credentials to FA to support those claims. Fake attorneys generally get the boot. Real attorneys who are site-vetted are encouraged to post if they don’t post commercial messages or commercial links.

Benson has now eliminated from his posts to the forum the advertising links and the claims. His profile page provides links - but that’s typically permitted.

I just don't get what value Benson (or any other lawyer doing the same thing) sees in trying to advertise that way in this forum. It's extremely unlikely someone in the locality where they practice and has an issue that their firm handles will ever see it and in any event I don't see advertising that way as being at all effective.

The firms’ websites tend to cross-reference all of the sites where they contribute content. They use these sites (like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc) to spread awareness of their services to a wider audience.

It’s free, it’s easy, and it potentially can be a good way to pick up a client or two, making these generic (possibly AI-generated) posts worth the minimal effort it takes to produce them. Plus it could give someone the idea that they are a larger or more important or more experienced company than they really are.

Because TV advertising can be exorbitantly expensive, a few well-placed ads on popular websites can be a decent alternative.

That said, it is probably not all that helpful to a company if they are frequently “community noted.” :)

Another consideration is search engine ranking.

civeni’s post has been reported for moderator review.

civeni has been told numerous times before to not add to other people’s threads and to not post to old threads. civeni has ignored all requests to provide a state name.
