    Preparing for asset division

I understand I should ask an attorney too, but does anyone else have an opinion if I should wait for her to go back to work or not before we have the big D conversation?

    Preparing for asset division

Ok let me be more clear. I have no problems providing for my kids. In fact, I will provide healthcare, and we can split daycare 75/25. I'll buy them clothes for my house and she can buy them clothes for her house, and we can even share clothes too. She can pay for groceries at her house and I'll...

    Preparing for asset division

Oh I'm willing to follow through. Let me simplify my question. Should I keep this close to the vest until she actually starts work, or doesn't it matter. Again I want to minimize or eliminate any alimony or child support because I don't believe it is necessary. She can afford to pay her own bills.

    Preparing for asset division

Thanks guys for the replies. Some time has passed and some things have changed, I just wanted to circle back on something more specific. She found a job and starts in 3 weeks. I would like to suggest divorce now as a way to snap her into reality. Think of it as an ultimatum. Either she respects...

    Preparing for asset division

Sounds to me the best course of action is to make sure she gets a job, and leave the rest up to lawyers if it comes to that. About respecting my wife, that isn't really a topic for this forum, but to answer I'm just aware how badly she manages money. Its just a fact.

    Preparing for asset division

How could they possibly divide it, force me to sell the house? I don't have enough cash in the bank to even come close to covering the difference. I closed on the house like 1 week after we got married. It was purchased with assets acquired PRIOR to marriage. All that down payment money was...

    Preparing for asset division

What is the name of your state? GA It looks like it is likely my wife and I will divorce. I came into the marriage with all the money and bought the houses and cars, which are all in my name. She hasn't been working since our 2nd child for the last 2 1/2 years, but now she is looking for a...

Some assets not in wife's name - also not working

they'll have to do daycare on my week. probably her week too once she goes back to work, she wants to work, does not want to be a stay at home mom i can't really gauge how hard she is looking unfortunately, but i would say its probably somewhat casual now and will start ratcheting up pretty quick

Some assets not in wife's name - also not working

I'd say she's got them from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM and I handle the rest. If the doc is on a weekday she would likely have to do it. There are a couple days out of the blue where I have to travel out of town. I would have to use daycare or hire a nanny if I wanted them to do 1 week at my house, 1...

Some assets not in wife's name - also not working

We both take care of them. Children are not in daycare, but they do go to a part-time school 3 days per week. We both take to doctor. We both prepare meals. I bathe them. She shops. I play.

Some assets not in wife's name - also not working

Sorry, I can certainly provide more info. Married 5 years. Kids are about to be 3 and 4. It is pre-marital debt then.

Some assets not in wife's name - also not working

What is the name of your state? GA How would this work if we got divorced? My wife stopped working 2-3 years ago when she was laid off, and now stays at home. I closed on the house days after we were married, but none of the loan or anything is in her name. She has student loans in just her...
