It's been pretty widely litigated to give any 'sign' you want to police officers.
I would love you to flesh out what you are asking about juuuust a bit more.
How can a middle school student meaningfully consent to a search by a school administrator?
There is zero level of awareness of a right to an alternative and their is the coercion of an authority figure in an enviromnent where the student has no right to leave.
Quiet honestly this seems like a dispute with your wife, who likes the condo and you who has attitudes about property and community that could not be satisfied by single family detached housing on a large lot.
This "safety" is linked to zillions of clinician needle sticks and many practices and hospital systems do not use this so called safety needle, that in truth was introduced in response to moral panic about used needles being fished out of the trash by iv drug users.
No safety benefits happen...
We get a lot of posts where tenants are subject to egregious lease and law violations where a landlord purports to have a right based on it being 'their house'
While I agree IN THIS CASE, that is not a general truth. The OP's landlord can move in becuase this lease does not convey the entire house. This is why the landlord can't move into his room, nor deny him the use of the shared spaces of the house that he is leasing.
You need to move when your lease is up. I storngly recommend living in a non-shared living situation where your landlord or people you don't know or approve cannot move in with you. There is always a risk in renting a bedroom with common area privileges that there will be issues, kitchen...

You shouldn't have touched the electrical issue, you've created a possible liability issue honestly.
The best you can do is keep quiet and get the ducts done at your own expense if you feel it is worth it (its not)
