What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
My mother moved from Connecticut to California in 2003. She shipped her possessions there too and they have been held in storage by my brother ever since. My mother passed in 2015 but my brother is now refusing to tell me what those items are. In...
Didn't seem stupid after WW2 when we made low cost housing available to our GIs and started building the suburbs and the middle class. You remember the middle class, right?
Yes, I am making those assumptions. It's routine when planning to anticipate what the "maximum/worst case" outcome/results would be and to plan accordingly.
The site and plan is exclusively set up by design to be exclusveily affordable housing (rentals) for seniors 62 and above. I don't believe they could come back and get around that plan. And yes, 45 is right in the middle, but that doesn't make it acceptable. We're still looking at 45 units, 90...
If I wanted to ask the question you suggest, I would have done so. My question was about notification. Seems legit to me. And if they should have been notified but weren't, I'd say that's a big problem.
I guess your 'he" is me. Nice to meet you. Fortunately, it's still not a crime to seek information about what our rights are in this situation and appropariate notification would be part of that. And yes, if that resulted in a way to stop this development, I would be extremely happy.
The problem is, there are two sets of laws governing these issues. Local zoning and bylaws, which I voted for and that are designed to protect the interests of the town and its residents. 40B is specifically designed to bypass all your local zoning regulations. One thinks one has a voice in a...
What is an "area of growth"? This is a residential street. The 2.4 acre plot
You're wrong. They've litererally said they need this project on this site to protect other parts of town. Imagine how you might feel in such a situation.
The "NIMBY" comments always seem to come from folks that would not be affected by such a development. Our neighborhood is not expendable and I do not appreciate the town and state throwing us under the bus to protect other parts of town.
Thanks again. This is in Medfield. The vacant lot is owned by the Medfield Housing Authority and they have planned on this project since the 1970s. We are now staring down the proposed 40B apartment building on this lot and evidently, have zero ability to stop it. 40B trumps local zoning and...
I don't know for a fact if they were or were not notified. But I tend to think not. The home next to the vacant lot was buillt in 1750. Seems unlikely that someone interested in such a property would find it acceptable that "the woods" next to their 250 year old home would soon be converted into...
Thanks Just Blue. I live in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, at this time I do not know this neighbor. Is it not possible to answer this general question without his participation? Thanks again.
A neighbor bought a home next to a vacant lot. The vacant lot is owned by the state which plans to build a three story, 45 unit affordable housing apartment building on the lot. What disclosures were required to be made to a potential new buyer for the home in this situtaiton?
