BOR - my sarcasm wasn't actually aimed at you - although it definitely seemed that way...my apologies.
I appreciate that, my apology also if I misdirected my thoughts.

Why are you apologizing Zig? We all love good sarcasm.
Ok quincy, please allow me to rephrase my statement. Many of us (not quincy ) love good sarcasm. That is quite the generalization there, Wirelessany1. I personally hate good sarcasm.
I am SO impressed! The effort you put into research continues to amaze me.I did a cursory review of several Arkansas school handbooks (for elementary, middle and high schools throughout the state) and all of them have "Lost and Found" policies. All are variations on the same theme.
this is how every school i've attended has deemed the L&F...ONLY, my old school, and wife here, says her school(now attended by brother and sister), does it by SEMESTER...they also do the same with all items left in lockers starting the end of the 1st week of summer school, UNLESS that particular student is enrolled in summer school, and they will continue use of their locker during that time.(she's reading off the school site's FAQ's regarding L&F)That is what I would like to know? IF students are aware that any item not claimed by the school year end is considered abandoned, then it becomes the property of the school and they can then make it a grab bag for anyone!
IF this is the case, it is not theft.
and also with this here, why hasn't the school not only backed the story, but not punished the boy for theft also? most schools have policies which cover theft of/on school property. but the child has apparently NOT been punished by the school. and i imagine, at some point, the HS kids parents, or the boy himself, made a complaint to the school?Ok, let's be real. If that WERE the case (the whole "grab bag" thing), then the school would have stepped right up and said "No, it's our policy that this becomes a grab bag". The school has NOT backed up the kid's story
