Yeah, right. Heaven forbid you give your child a really good chance at a meaningful future, being raised by mature adults who are emotionally and financially stable and settled. We wouldn't want the poor kid to have to experience a life like THAT.

Well, good luck. But, the statistics are not on your side for this relationship to work ... AND, if poppa goes to jail, this might throw a huge monkey wrench into things.

I really wish guys would learn about this concept ... under 18 = jail (or the possibility thereof).

Good luck.

My response:

Isn't it a requirement that people know how to spell BEFORE they get knocked up?

Can you find the other misspelled words?

alli8, please tell us what realatiers is?
Have you finished school and planned further education?
No matter how in love you are now and no matter how rich the father is, there is never a guarantee that he will support you forever, so you need to make sure now, while you are young, that you could support yourself and your child if it should come to that. If you should end up a single mom, the child support isn't going to pay for every bill.
What plans do you have set up job and income wise? Don't tell me you are planning to be a 17 year old housewife.

Every woman should be just as able to support herself. her child and her spouse as their spouse is. ANYTHING can happen. They can drop dead, be disabled, disappear. leave the country, whatever. One should always plan on needing the skills that will make them employable in this competitive environment. Additionally, they should have their OWN retirement plans, own credit and own savings plans. My husband's dad died three months BEFORE he was born- one can never presume they won't need job skills, even if they are already married and thoroughly in love with each other.

Nextwife and I were posting at the same time. She said basically the same thing that I was going to say,(and better) so I took mine out.

The only other thing I intended to say is "There is nothing wrong with being a housewife".

I'm not saying that being is a housewife is bad, what I am saying is that women should maybe at least try and get some kind of education and work experinece before they ever become a housewife with no income of their own, so that they have some skill to fall back on and use if/when she has to pay all the bills herself.

Nothing wrong with it, however, if you have no other option, then you are SOL if your partner suddenly isn't around to support you. What if you need to support them? Like when my dad drove his car into a ditch during a sudden seizure and the tests showed a brain tumor. Surgery, paralysis, etc. followed and he never worked again. Getting court orders for alimony or CS doesn't change the reality that sometimes people just CAN"T work. And what about woman whose partners are incarcerated? What happens if they have no capablity of supporting themselves? the taxpayers should not need to. Woman should be able to take care of themselves.

Also, if a woman at least has her own assets and job skills, she has the financial wherewithall, competance and capability that allow her to walk away from any bad relationship.

ALL woman need to have the skills that enable them to financially support their families if necessary. Once they do, being a housewife is just ONE option.
