I’m a renter in a home. The a/c went out and I had my cousin who is a licensed technician come out to look at it since it was night time and I knew the landlord wouldn’t be able to have it repaired for a few days to keep my 2 year comfortable. So once I told her she filed a claim with her warranty company. They denied the claim because my cousin looked at the AC. So now she says that I’m fully responsible for the cost?!? Which is over 600$. How can this be? Please help??

Did he just look at it...or did he tinker with it as well?

you probably just gave the warranty co a way out of claim by having unauthorized person doing service to unit..the mfg warranty is likely parts only, not labor, you may be on the hook for labor since your buddy gave the warranty co a way out of paying the claim, you should never told landlord somebody was working on it on your behalf

Yea you’re right. Big lesson learned here.

Texas law gives the landlord seven days to address such issues. Seems like you jumped the gun and should’ve waited for the landlord to get his own repair man. Bill is on you.
