What is the name of your state? ca

what kind of access does a collection agency have to my financial info? can they find savings, mutual funds, checking, etc? or does that only come in the judgement phase of the collections process

Most of what they 'know' is found on your credit report and public records. Its possible they could have bank info if you paid them or the OC by check, but it doesn't appear to be too common.

Most of the time, they only find out ALL your financial info from interrogatories stemming from a lawsuit and/or judgment.
