Admission by a party opponent, declaration against interest (if no show), prior statements of witness (after testimony), statement for purpose of medical diagnosis or treatment are all possibilities.
 


It was an accident, and though the combined reason is the defective design, and a little carelessness from your wife's part, but the Hotel, cannot be blamed fully for that. Also if you sue them, you will lose the case due to your wife's given statement to the police.

If OP is still around, he can ignore the previous poster, who seems to just like to see himself in print, regardless of whether he actually adds anything usefull to the thread (which I haven't seen yet).
