Add on fiancé on lease

What is the name of your state? California (Carlsbad/Oceanside)
I want to add on my fiancé to my apartment lease.
My townhome complex management will approve him and create an addendum. My issue is my co-resident (mom) who is on my lease (I am primary applicant) and is not approving this add on roommate. She needs to sign the addendum. Does she need to sign to be valid or can he automatically be added on, after we get married?!
Please help, time is of the essence!

Neither you nor the landlord can force your mother to enter into a contract including any other party. If she says no, he will not become a party to the lease


Have you asked your landlord and your mother if they will allow him to be an occupant and not a lessee?

Then you should find someone acceptable to your ll/mother to take over your lease and get a rental with BF. Curious....Why is your mom against your BF? Does he do drugs? Have a criminal record? Drink too much? Unemployed? Treat you badly?

So set the wedding date for May 2020 after your lease has (likely) gone month-to-month. He can find his own place to live until then.

Gabie, I just can't let this slip. Every decision I make is to better the lives of the boys & this would be one to improve their lives, for sure. They like him&understand each other&will be very educated in many subjects by him. Plus he is very funny. I just wanted to let you know that there is not any person coming in to waste our time. I just wish mom would just know she can still go as normal day by day. There's not much changing for her cuz she doesn't want to be involved w/anything but window shopping

He sounds like a great guy, at least all but for that not supporting himself and wanting you to support him.

If he is as great as you make him out to be, he will work his ass off to support his wife. If you can’t get what you described above plus him working to provide for you (we already know he won’t provide for himself), you need to keep looking. A well dressed bum is still a bum.
