What is the name of your state? California (Carlsbad/Oceanside)
I want to add on my fiancé to my apartment lease.
My townhome complex management will approve him and create an addendum. My issue is my co-resident (mom) who is on my lease (I am primary applicant) and is not approving this add on roommate. She needs to sign the addendum. Does she need to sign to be valid or can he automatically be added on, after we get married?!
Please help, time is of the essence!
Thank you,

Why don't you and fiancé get your own place when your lease is over?

Your mom doesn't have to agree to a change in her lease.

Neither you nor the landlord can force your mother to enter into a contract including any other party. If she says no, he will not become a party to the lease

Have you asked your landlord and your mother if they will allow him to be an occupant and not a lessee?

I just moved in on April 2019 and did not anticipate this! We can’t wait 9months as he has nowhere else to go
Then you should find someone acceptable to your ll/mother to take over your lease and get a rental with BF. Curious....Why is your mom against your BF? Does he do drugs? Have a criminal record? Drink too much? Unemployed? Treat you badly?

And I want to get married as I love him truly! Doe marriage not hold water?
Sure it "holds water"...but you still can't force your mom to accept your BF as a room-mate. Would you want to be forced to live with someone you found objectionable?

My mom is just thinking she likes her privacy. And the following is what I texted my sister:

I will let mom know tomorrow that it is definite. She's known a lot about Richard since January. I know it's different w/move in;yet like I told her,,I can not do any better than this&never will, he doesn't smoke cigs/weed, drink, care to go out,, he is all about body&mind, years in martial arts, running marathons, hiker, body building, some military training, ex life guard, history nerd, creative writing and has a huge heart for animals/dogs. He's too good for me :/
Gabie, I just can't let this slip. Every decision I make is to better the lives of the boys & this would be one to improve their lives, for sure. They like him&understand each other&will be very educated in many subjects by him. Plus he is very funny. I just wanted to let you know that there is not any person coming in to waste our time. I just wish mom would just know she can still go as normal day by day. There's not much changing for her cuz she doesn't want to be involved w/anything but window shopping :)
Which Richard will gladly babysit, while I take her!
So no need to reply to above, just wanted to vent that out to you.
Did you&EJ transfer rent over to moms account?
I'll text you right after I speak with her.

Am I concluding that your omission of the word "employed" means he isn't?

You're describing Maynard G. Krebs, a goodhearted fellow with an aversion to work.

Every decision I make is to better the lives of the boys & this would be one to improve their lives, for sure.
So, you have children and have known this guy since about January and you want to move him in with you, your kids, and your mother because "he has no place to go."

Girl, pardon my bluntness, but you are a starstruck idiot. You'll be back here in 6 months whining "He won't leave. What are my rights?"

If I was your mother, I'd say "no" too.

I think mom might be trying to save you from yourself.

He sounds like a great guy, at least all but for that not supporting himself and wanting you to support him.

If he is as great as you make him out to be, he will work his ass off to support his wife. If you can’t get what you described above plus him working to provide for you (we already know he won’t provide for himself), you need to keep looking. A well dressed bum is still a bum.
