I see, you're saying let the young ignorant people fall into the trap that you are skillfully avoiding.
That is not what I am saying at all. Most young people either start out with nothing or with very little when they marry. They build their lives and their assets together. At my age the bulk of most people's assets are already built. If I were to marry again now, I would also expect my husband to keep his premarital assets separate as well.

variation on the theme

My question is almost the same deal except in this case the home was inherited free and clear but later an equity mortgage was taken out that had both names on it. Does that make it now community property?
