Granted, it's not huge, but 1st she has to collect up all her work that she was doing at moms and pack it to go. Then we live about 20 mins away from her mom's. Then she has to unpack her work and get restarted. I'll bet it adds at least 40 minutes, maybe more. That's a lot for her on busy days.
If she's not doing homework at Mom's (and if there are all these "other" things that she does instead) - what is there to pack up?

Do I sound like a hardass? That's 'cause I am. I've had my oldest come home from an XC meet at 5:30 and have a Scout meeting at 7. He sits down, and he bangs his homework out right after a shower while eating a quick bite. Same w/my youngest (she's 12 like yours). Not done? Not goin'. They've learned to take advantage of time (a) at lunch, (b) on the bus, (c) before the next class starts to cut down the amount left to do at home. When they want to do somethign badly enough - they find a way to prioritze what they need to.

And I should be clear, she's a 4.0 student. Very serious about her school work as well as sports.
Nesto, Nesto, Nesto.

Then there is no problem that she's not getting her homework done sometimes at Mom's.

 :p :D

Game over.
