What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Arkansas

I have a question. On a background check what is the difference in dismissed and nolle prosequi.

I'm guessing the former is done by the judge and the the latter by the prosecutor.

nolle prosequi means that it's not prosecuted - it never goes to court.
Dismissed means that it went to court and was dismissed.
