The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) oversees payments to Department of Defense servicemembers, employees, vendors and contractors. The Defense Finance and Accounting Services also provides Department of Defense decision makers with business intelligence, finance and accounting information.

Never dealt with this agency but I will guess there is a back-story to OP's issues.

it really is. Somehow got charged with a debt for bahpay. Bah is usually an entitlement paid to SM who have dependents (Person has a wife and kids).
Yet the investigation didn’t consider any supporting documentation (literally disregarded marriage certificate/birth certificates etc). No one just gives you the entitlement either you have to provide documentation in order to receive it (marriage certificate, etc)...So since the investigation occurred and the probable cause was opined DFAS is able to take the whole entitlement collected. Completely.

now DFAS is saying that they can’t even file an amendment to chapter 7 to include the debt.

I don't know why you are simply ignoring this, but, if this is YOUR matter, then you need to speak to your attorney. If this is NOT your matter, then the involved person needs to speak to an attorney. There's really nothing else that an internet forum can help you with.

Because it takes time to meet your lawyer and you have questions before hand. Sometimes people online have experience and can help settle your nerves. The name of the site is free advice. Also it can help you get down to the exact questions you should/need to ask your attorney and allow you to research until your appointment time.

You have a bankruptcy lawyer try and answer your question. You clearly don't have enough information and/or can't understand what is being told to you. When a lawyer is seen the person seeing the lawyer needs to briefly explain the problem and the lawyer will ask for any information they may need to answer/deal said issue.

Sure, that's all possible...but, since this isn't your problem there are no nerves to settle.

I’ll humor you so if it’s me or a third party can you assist?
You can wait to hear back from the forum’s bankruptcy attorney (despritfreya) to see if there is any additional information that can be added - but the best source of information will be from the bankruptcy attorney who handled the original bankruptcy.
