What is the name of your state? Indiana
My boss is telling co-workers that I am a sociopath with Attention Deficit Disorder -- both completely false accusations. Advice?

Unless your boss is a shrink or claiming that he knows a shrink has diagnosed you, it is not likely that anyone would take his assessment of your mental health seriously.

If he's just making these remarks in an informal manner, I don't think it would qualify as defamation. Context is everything in such a case though.

Well, don't sleep with the boss. How is that for advice?
Why would I sleep with her? I'm not a lesbian and she's not particularly attractive. She just hates me and is trying to ruin my career because *her* boss won't let her fire me. Is this really the legal advice given on this forum? I guess that's why its free. :(

And of course, since you asked for 'advice' without the benefit of any facts surrounding your situation, especially a rebuttal of the claims, you expect people here to know what the hell you want?

Is is slander? No. It's opinion. Is it libel? No, it was spoken. Are you a sociopath with ADD? It's beginning to sound that way.

As I said, unless she's doing it in a fairly serious manner, I don't think you have legal recourse.

Are you able to document any of these incidents or would that be a problem for the co-workers who told you about it? If you can document it, do so immediately. Make a formal complaint about it at work.

Make sure your boss knows you are going to be documenting everything from now on.

Good luck with "her".

Thanks Meganproser - this is very good advice which I'm happy to take. And Belizebreeze - since we're bandying psychological assessments around - I think you're a misogynistic misanthrope with delusions of grandeur. But, I'll pray that you begin to mellow in your retirement. Have a great day. :)

I guess you'll find out when you sue her and the judge thows out your 'assessment'. Sounds like there are more issues here than your psychologist can deal with

As I said (and you'll understand better when you start reading posts carefully) - I'm following Meganproses' advice - because it was *sane*. :p
Now, go away little mean man and find someone else to pick on ...

This is what happens when you read the books but don't understand the theory. Well, maybe there's hope for you before you graduate. Now, about your psychologist. :D

Thanks for the laugh! Btw, are you in school? I've lost track of who or what BB is talking about.

My ORIGINAL answer to her which she conveniently forgot because of the ADD :D

If she gets mad at you, she might remember she's a sociopath!

No, I'm in public relations. It's been four years of hell, but I've managed to stick with it - I'm a single parent, so I can't just quit and the job market is very competitive. I certainly don't need this bad press.
