I'm a Northern Girl
Hoosiergirl, I'm not trying to diminish what's happening, but looking at it from an outside perspective, the first question that comes to my mind is, what damages have you suffered because of this? What jobs have you lost? What loans have you been turned down for? What bills have you incurred?

(Hint: hurt feelings and embarassment are not damages, as the law sees it.)

No, I'm in public relations. It's been four years of hell, but I've managed to stick with it - I'm a single parent, so I can't just quit and the job market is very competitive. I certainly don't need this bad press.
At the risk of being spanked by Mary (oh, that it were so true) you have no other alternative than to file a complaint against your boss with her boss or HR.

This does not rise to slander and is not close to a hostile workplace. It's an ******* boss being stupid. Nothing more or less.

IF she communicates to a third party and the communications result in you being fired, losing business or other monitary loss and you can PROVE that 1. the communications resulted directly in your loss and; 2. the allegations are false and; 3. the jackass KNEW the allegations were false, then you may have a case of slander.
