well....that would make him less than smart, wouldn't it!?

(from the perspective of a former victim of domestic abuse---I was more terrified of the EX when he was raging and throwing/destroying things, than when he would just hit/shove/push me. When he was throwing things (in a rage) there was absolutely no telling what he'd throw, where'd it go or what he would do to destroy something. One time, he punched a door, left a hole. That was not good enough, and he ripped the door off the hinges and completely destroyed it. I didn't dare move, speak or even breathe too hard--he could have turned on me. Destroying possessions is a way that abusers intimidate their victims)
I agree with you completely, Lady! My ex used to rant and rave, and all I could do was sit there and try to be still, hoping he wouldn't turn it on me. Had the holes in the walls, my stuff broken, etc. It was definitely a control/intimidation issue thing for him.

OP, actually, there is something else you could do to help your son - encourage (strongly) that he see someone to help control his anger. Recognizing that he has a problem will help him in many ways, both legally and personally.

Little late in seeing this but lest anyone get the wrong idea, this type of anger management issue is not limited to males. I can speak to personal experience that females will do it too.

Definitely! I feel for anyone in this situation, male or female, and encourage them to get out as soon as possible for their safety, and their sanity.
