I agree with wileybunch, we don't know why dad is not being safety conscious. I had a situation my daughter being driven on rugged terrain (I had been there, done that with him) in a ATV where he would tell her to GET DOWN. When she would ASK for a helmet, he refused her. Thats what got me...won't go on, I got slammed for it. But I DID call and talk to the appropriate law enforcement agency and after they talked with the dad about whats up, and dad was belligerent, they asked me (why do these folks ask??) if I wanted them to take it up as it was child endangerment.

Private property, sticky situation for law enforcement people

Dad admitted to the unsafe behavior, therefore there was a leg to stand on.

But I did not pursue it.

In this case, you need to check it out legally and communicate with the dad, whats the deal?

We have plenty of outside toys here. Guess I am fortunate that my hubby knows that the brain is to important to chance, and all of our kids have helmets and have to wear them before they get onto/into any thing that has more power than their own 2 feet. ( made for very funny looks from others when at 2.5 my little girl wore a helmet in the car... lol)

DOT helmets are not that expensive. You can get a youth helmet for around $40. You could also find them at thrift shops.

By small motorcycle are you refering to a street legal bike? Or a dirt bike of some fashion?

I don't have internet at home. I'm doing all my posting at work. I appreciate all the advice; sort of thought the sex thing would be a non-issue (as long as he keeps that "hobby" confined to times when he's not with our son) and I am going to check into helmet laws in his county. I agree with the poster who said that my buying a helmet is not going to help much because Dad is one of those unfortunate macho men who believe helmets=weakness. The bike is a small honda (sort of like a dirt bike; not sure what ages it is designed for.)
Again, thank y'all so much for the advice.
God bless~
