Or, from another angle, how about the cops taking him away from an adult who has been having an illegal sexual relationship with him and who is now harboring a runaway and returning him to his home and family?

My reposne is equally as factual as yours.....
The adult is 18 and the minor is 17 and 9 months. I can be wrong, but I don't see a DA starting to prosecute this kind of issue, especially when a minor child (the baby) involved.
If the minor was 13 and the adult 35, it was totally other thing off course.

So, what you are doing is inserting your own beliefs on how the law should be applied with no actual knowledge. Furthermore, you seem to be offering encouragement for breaking the law. Excellent.

No, legally he can not do it. But I want to see how the cops dragging a guy from his GF pregnant with his child, or from his newborn because he ran away from home to help them. Yep, I think not only me, but some journalists also will be very glad to see it.
How can a 17 year old in high school realistically "help" anyone?

Yes, the cops WOULD bring him back home. In fact, they might be REQUIRED to! If they have to DRAG him back, chances are he'd be going to juvenile hall for resisting or delaying a peace officer and no longer be a mere status offender.

The media can record be dragging junior all they want - I just ask that they spell my name right ... about half the time I'm on TV they spell my name wrong! :(
