California...My husband has been told (by his mother) his entire life that his father wanted nothing to do with him. In 2012, my husband was 33 years old and had never seen his father. My mother and father in law asked my husband if he would allow his step father to appt him. Since we had been married for over 10 years, I had to also sign consent. Before I signed anything, I asked about his biological father. My MIL proceed to tell my husband and I that his Bio had passed away in 2003. I told them I needed to speak with my husband and that if I was going to sign consent, it would be the following day. Later that evening, my husband told me he wanted to be adopted but that he was devastated by not ever meeting his biological father. Somehow, they had a court date finalizing the adoption almost immediately. A few days later, I I overheard my MIL say "... He may as well have died, he doesn't know his son.". I got a cringe worthy feeling deep in my heart that my husband's Biological father is still alive. I spent the last 4 1/2 years searching for my husband's Biological father and brother.
Guess what!!!! Found him alive!!! Found him less than 90 miles away.
My husband feels such betrayal and he wants to go back to his old name.
What can he do if anything?
