Can Debt Collectors still collect after Bankruptcy is Dismissed?

I don't have a problem re-paying them. I have a problem re-paying $12,000.00 when I only owed $3,000.00. That is my dispute. I have called an attorney and found a small loophole. He pulled up my Bankruptcy documents with the original contract showing the actual amount financed, and the final balance at the time of my filing. He is going to meet with the creditor and ask for the info, and when it is presented he will handle it. I don't mind paying this debt, but I am not paying something that I do not owe.

I'm not interested in playing pull the facts so they can change after every response.

Tell us the facts:
What was the debt for:
What was the interest rate?
When did you cease making regular monthly payments?
Does the creditor have a judgment?
How many times have you filed bankruptcy?
When was your last payment on the debt? Yes this includes during your Chapter 13 plan.
What was the date of dismissal of your bankruptcy?
What did the judge say the cause for dismissal is?

Answer these questions and you might be able to get an accurate response. Until then, no one can accurately advise you.
