I respectfully disagree.

While reality often differs from how the law is written, I think it's not difficult to say that the OP's actions are "causing unjustifiable physical pain" to the cats.

However this is pretty pointless to discuss further - I doubt anything criminal will come of the whole thing, and a successful civil action seems just as unlikely.

I also just wanted to add that if the OP was that concerned about his cat being "beaten up" by other cats he should keep his cat indoors. Domesticated cats left to wander freely outside tend to get injured in fights with ferals, pick up various diseases, and get hit by cars.

Showing there was an infliction of "unjustifiable pain" can be a tough element for a prosecutor when talking about feral cats that refuse to leave a person's property and that are threatening harm to that person's pets.

I agree that pets should not be left to wander.
