If he doesn't show up, and the case goes ahead, remind the judge that it's your right to confront and cross-examine your accuser.
Actually, if you read back, that's the reason that the case did not go ahead. That issue seems to be covered.

Well, I talked to a Lawyer in the county where the court is. Apparently the process is that you get a ticket, it has a date, you plead guilt and pay by that date, or YOU show up to say not Guilty, the Judge then sets a new date for the hearing.

That means that YOU have to take the time to go to the court, but the COP does not. SO I go Monday, and wrote up my side of the story. I also found some aerial shots of the river with a distance scale) which I will use to show where the incident occurred, and where I was and the general area the officer was.

What burns me up is that, if the Judge finds me guilty, that means that these guys can give out tickets at their discretion, and there will be no laughing it.

This is a bigger issue here then just this ticket.

20+ posts later, and this was about arraignment and not trial?!
that means that these guys can give out tickets at their discretion, and there will be no [arguing] it.
It doesn't mean that at all. That's what trial is for!

Had court date, everyone was there. the officer, his boss, the state attorney, and two others who also got tickets from the officer.

Turned out the state attorney grilled this guy and his boss. ended up Judge dismissed the case, he could not prove that I was speeding. (and tossed out the other tickets too.)

Bottom line, go to court, unless they have something over you. Hope the DNR dont hand out tickets over hearsay as easyily next year. And I got the names and process to change the law, I will be working that this winter. ( using this case as a augument for change).
