I bought my property 35 years ago in my town, all legal,
Now years latter when I wanted to sell , I'm told I can't bebause of a property line dispute
Found this out at the town office, They told me when they moved thier files from paper to computer system years back, they could not move mine because of this property line issue, So my files were put away.
I was never notified of any problem, of course the staff has all changed by now, and they won't do anything.
I told to get a lawyer to sort it all out. if that was the answer I had no problem doing so

Now here lies the problem the land next door to me was purchased after my purchase, but somehow was allowed.
The owner my family property is my dad, Who was going to sell to me, He wants to get this done before he passes away, now 75 years old
When i refer the property as mine, I mean his to me
Its now been about 3 years sinse this started,
We went the lawyer route , but with no success, First lawyer had it for a year and did nothing
Moved to second laywer, after a year or so I was told that I needed to find out who the owner of the other property was?
I thought that what they did?
OK , so this town, like most small towns , is owned by OLD money, The neighbering property is owned buy one of these families who happens to be a lawyer.
one question is How did he get his property purchased and processed, with this dispute . Why was i not notified that this was happening??
Not saying anything was illegal here, but this is very fishy
so now we sit on peice of property , that we can't do anything with. We are in a bit of a rush here, I can't buy it from my dad?
I thoght maybe the local lawyers found out who the owner was, and didn't want did anything up
On my third lawyer from a city , And again nothing is happening, This time because of covid I'm told\
Its very frustating, I don't have a laywer in my family, So im S**T out of luck I guess
What will happen and what can I do?
I kinda wonder how the town has been calculating my land taxes all this time
I'm not a professtion writer, so I most likely have made mistakes etc\
Pleasee share your opinion
I'm in Ontario, Canada

Did it ever occur to you to contact the owner of the adjacent property and ask what can be done to settle the 6' dispute?

You have probably paid your lawyers more than that 6' strip is worth.
Mrsardonicus will want all facts and laws specific to Ontario personally reviewed by a Canadian legal professional.
