I have bought a cell phone in may, and I signed the contract back then. The plan I had was the local one (12 states), and a month after that I changed it to nation-wide plan, since I was going to be away for 3 months from NJ where I live. I changed my plan over the phone.
Last week (2 cycles after changing the plan), I found out that I was charged the roaming charges, since I made all my calls from Tennessee. They say that that it is written in the contract that if 10% of calls is not made from the home state, the roaming charges would be applied to all calls.
The problem is that I never signed that new contract, and the customer service representative I talked to when I was changing my plan didn't point out that important chapter of the contract. Also, on their web page, in the plan description that is not mentioned, and the Knoxville, TN is marked as the area with no roaming charges.
Does anyone knows if I, as an international student, have any rights concerning this.
Thank you
