So what your saying is I have no chance?! THIS IS SOOOO UNFAIR I DON'T WANT MY SON IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY WITHOUT ME. What if they don't come back!!! grrr
Seriously? Grow up. You are being jealous. Is your ex a Mexican citizen? Does he have a job in Mexico? Does his bride have a job in Mexico? Are either of them the children of Mexican drug lords? Has your ex threatened to run to Mexico and keep your child there?

Oh and google the Hague Convention. And realize that YOU CHOSE THIS MAN to be daddy. If you don't like that choice you should have made a better choice as to your sexual partner.

Even resort areas in Mexico have been proven to be unsafe lately. I went to summer school in Mexico twice as a teen, and I adored the country. I also visited it many times as an adult, and adored it just as much.

Today? I honestly wouldn't go...and I cannot blame a parent who doesn't want their child to go there either. The government is not in control the way that the government should be.
And bad things can happen in US cities and non cities, too. On the highway on the way to the airport to go somewhere. There is not crime in the US? Drug trafficing or gang crossfire? There is risk in leaving the house everyday. One still goes on and experiences life, travels, and takes their child places outside of their current world.

Sometimes I wonder about the numbers.

How many parents deliberately hide the child from the other parent in plain sight, within the walls of the US? Compared to how many parents actually (as appears to be the underlying subject of this thread) take the kids on vacation and never return them to the US?

I can't help but wonder how much is truth, and how much is plain old fear-mongering.

Yes, but did the U.S. Department of State issue a travel advisory for the highway on the way to your airport? Is there a Hague Convention warning about your city?

While OP's concerns may be motivated by jealousy, there are legitimate concerns about Mexico based on those two facts. I really don't think the concerns should be simply discarded out of hand.

OTOH, the father does have rights. So a judge is going to have to hear the case if Dad wants to force the matter and it will come down to the judge balancing Dad's rights against Mom's safety concerns. I think it's premature to try to guess how it would come out.

OP really needs to speak to a local attorney who knows the judge in question.
