I think many people are tired of child support becoming adult support. Having a baby with someone wealthy should not entitle the mom to part of the fathers fortune. Income should be capped as you know any child support above 2k a month is also used to support mom.

I suppose some of you are right. Men should make babies and go on living their lives as if the children don't have needs or wants beyond what the mothers can provide. How silly of me.

Well, you're partially right. As a mother, you should do everything you can to ensure that you can support your child without any assistance from the father of the child. He could, after all, become disabled, just decide to NEVER pay support, die, whatever. Life is uncertain.

HOWEVER, you should also pursue the support that is legally due your child. Even though it's possible you'll never get it, or it will never be based on "real" numbers.

Men - or noncutodial parents in general - should not get a free pass to spread their seed with nary a financial concern. But Women - or custodial parents in general - should not ever expect the other parent to actually follow through on their legal obligations.

And you know this how?

It CAN be appropriate to have support be more than 2K a month. How do YOU know what it has been ordered to cover?
