Possibly - she should consult with a tax pro.can my mom file 2016 1040X Amended on the year she purchase the car
I agree that you need a tax pro. There were limited amounts of each vehicles make and model eligible for the credit. A tax pro will be able to research for you whether or not your specific car was eligible,Possibly - she should consult with a tax pro.
Specifically, in the year it is put into service. Either way, it doesn't apply and you can't get it for regular hybrids now even if it was brand new.It can only be claimed in the tax year that the claimant takes delivery of the vehicle.
A minor distinction, but true enoughSpecifically, in the year it is put into service. Either way, it doesn't apply and you can't get it for regular hybrids now even if it was brand new.
You don't need a tax pro. I follow the EV and related stuff pretty closely. The regular hybrids lost the tax credit back around 2010. A 2016 model wouldn't have been eligible for the credit.I agree that you need a tax pro. There were limited amounts of each vehicles make and model eligible for the credit. To be fair - we don't know the exact model we're talking about. Here's a list of eligible vehicles for the OP: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxevb.shtmlYou don't need a tax pro. Except that list is for a completely different tax credit than the Alternative Model Vehicle Credit he asked about. To be fair - we don't know the exact model we're talking about. Here's a list of eligible vehicles for the OP: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxevb.shtml

The EDVC never had regular hybrids. You have to have at least a plug-in hybrid (it has to be able to run at least a short distance without gas).
He asked about the Alternative Model Vehicle Credit...
