Did they publish a yearbook?

Did a local newspaper publish the list of graduates?

I suspect if you can convince them that she did attend, they will locate the records. Right now, they probably think you are mistaken.

No loans, paid herself and her parents. Thats another thing we are trying to get our hands out (cancelled checks) but again, its been a few years so where these checks are (and some payments were cash) we don't know.
The bank will have copies of the checks. She have them search for them. Unless of course the bank has closed and not been merged with another which would have gotten the checks. Or unless they had a computer malfunction or their storage facility caught fire or flooded or they too lost the records. At least her parents are wealthy. Nursing school is expensive.

Did she live in the dorms while at nursing school? Where did she do her hospital rotations? The hospital should have some records. As should the class for which she did the rotations. Additionally the doctors she worked with should remember her. She should also have evaluations from that rotation that she kept.

She lived with her parents while at school.

She went to Florida Health Central for her work. In fact, I remember her ID card. Altho lord knows where that is now.

So right now, the next step is nothing.
But the step after that is, wait a few months till we go back to FL to visit and then:
a)go thru the garage and get anything that showed she attended there (tests, old ID, diploma, etc)
b)go to the banks to ask for copies of checks written from 2002 to 2005

then if we have something, take that to the college and hope that can do something.

But I came on here hoping I could find a lawyer or even a PI that I can retain to help me out. Or should I do steps A and B and then if the college still refuses to acknowledge her existance then contact a lawyer?

This is not a referral service, though there are links you can follow to find attorneys.

Yes, sorry, I mispoke.

I want to get legal advice, as in, is there any way a lawyer can help me, or should I just do everything myself? Wouldn't a legal document of some kind get them to really search their records? I don't know if they just did a quick search and have other ways, I don't know.

Either way, I want to get legal advice as it relates to getting the school to find these records. Let's assume my wife is not lying to me.

Actually YOU won't be able to do anything. Your WIFE can hire an attorney to check it out.

If it were me, I would take a road(fly) trip to Florida and PERSONALLY go check it out.

Now, are the parents terribly rich? If not, are there any PARENT loans? Why I ask? My neighbors are paying for both of their children's education because they don't feel their children should be saddled with student loans starting out in life. The student loans are directly paid to the schools.

The bank will have records going back no further than 2002. Be ready to pay for statements and for individual check copies. This can get pretty pricey.

Do steps A and B and then your WIFE shoudl contact a lawyer when she gets proof that she actually attended. Because quite frankly she has no proof. Her WORD is not enough. She needs some evidence that she a) attended that college and b) graduated.
If she has that and the school refuses to give her acknowledgment then an attorney can help. Until then this could be another Mark Hacking case. Because YOU can't even state that you know unequivocably that she attended. You know she did but what evidence do you have that she was presenting to you an accurate picture?

Have you tried the FHCHS web site?
On the Department of Nursing page, at the top, there is a "my fhchs' for students that takes you to a sign in page. Bottom of that one has a 'look up' for user id/password. The next page asks for Name, Birthdate, Soc. Sec. Now...it may only be for current students, but it's worth a try.

Speaking as an RN....I cannot imagine going through the rigors of classes, exams, clinicals, and practicums....finally graduating....then waiting 4 or more years before attempting the NCLEXRN. But I guess that's just me.

Certainly her clinical instructors would remember her. They work closely together in small groups. I was a clinical instructor and can still remember the names and faces of students from years ago. It's a different type of teaching relationship.
