I have a friend who plead guilty to second degree murder on her lawyer's advice (bad I might add) four years ago. She still has about four years remaining as her two young girls are growing up.We are attempting to apply to the governor for a commutation of the sentence to manslaughter (which would get her out soon). She was young and stupid and poor at the time. We are in the process of gathering info and hardship testimonials etc to submit to the executive clemency folks...there are guidelines and we are following them. the question is are there lawyers available who specialize in this sort of thing and do you think they would be helpful by reviewing our package of materials? Do we have a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding? Funds are limited but possible. Do we have a chance or is the governor's office very selective? where would we find a lawyer who specializes in this sort of thing. we are willing to do most of the legwork and research and inquiry, just need a good mind to bounce things off of....comments are helpful as well... Thank you in advance...
