What is the name of your state? PA

If you are given a confidentiality agreement to sign that you feel potentially leaves you open for someone else's disclosure because it is vague, and you want to add a word or two in the agreement, can you just write it in and then sign it? Is it binding?

Also, the validity and effect shall be governed by the laws of ???? is left blank in the boilerplate. Does that make an agreement invalid or is it assumed to be their home state or the contractor's home state?

Thanks.
