Taking the info to a local attorney won't do anything for Purple OP.
Why? Because it won't. Not OP's business. There are 1000 different reasons those papers were filed. But with a dissolution?
A dissolution means that the parties filed everything together at the beginning of the proceedings, waived service and both showed up at the sole final hearing. A dissolution means the court found that there was equal ability to reach an agreement and there was not an imbalance of power resulting in an unjust agreement. A dissolution means that the parties agreed to custody and property settlement and the court found it appropriate. A dissolution means that the parties agreed to a divorce and there was no fault found. A dissolution ...

Should I continue with what a dissolution means?

Or maybe I should state what a dissolution doesn't mean -- it doesn't mean that one party alleged abuse. It doesn't mean that one party believed the children were in danger. It doesn't mean that one party wanted to fight anything.

Read page 5 of this: http://communityresearchpartners.org/uploads/publications/77_file1_057139559.pdf

Now, if those forms were filed, this was not a DISSOLUTION. This was a divorce. A vicious divorce. The filing of a CPO means that one party alleged dv against the other. (that is not a laughing matter) Why would the party do that? It could be strategic. It could be true. It could be false. It could be for negotiation. It could be out of anger. But these people did NOT get a dissolution. They got a divorce. Is it true what was alleged? Don't know. But what I will tell you is this -- look at the outcome. Does the accused have custody or visitation unsupervised with the children? Was there a restraining order for communication between the two of them?

Should I continue? But don't post these two got a dissolution when that was part of it. Any court would that would grant a DISSOLUTION rather than a divorce when there was allegations of domestic violence was asleep at the wheel. IMHO.

Could it be that the OP is attempting to do a background check on a person they are thinking about dating...and maybe they have children to protect? If so, the OP would probably have received different responses if they had explained that. Of course, its more likely that they are being nosy about someone their ex is dating, but still, explaining WHY you are doing something helps put it in context.

What I want to know is... if OP is so curious about what the contents of the filings actually means, then why don't they ask the one they're allegedly checking up on, instead of bringing their curiosity into an anonymous internet forum?

I hear confrontation on such issues tends to be much more informational than just reading the particulars in the court documents... Might find out a whole lot more than she bargained for in the deal.

I'm shocked that somebody would take so much time to comment on a six-year old thread :rolleyes::rolleyes:
Didn't look at the dates of the thread... And I commented because no one else made any useful contribution to this thread
