In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial

how can anyone come up with a definition for a right, where one is charged for exercising it?
You still did not answer my relevant question. What filing fee are you talking about??

If you are charged with an offense, you don't have any such fees, please be SPECIFIC.

You're getting due process. You have the option of attending a hearing and facing your accuser (the state) in an impartial tribunal. You have the option to present your side of the story. That is due process.

OP is objecting to being charged court costs for pleading not guilty to a traffic violation and having a hearing.

I am still not familiar with your stance, never heard of it.

Are you talking about a refundable appearance bond of sorts, some type of surety?

Due Process under the 14th AM is just as it implies. What Process are you Due. How is such a filing fee, even though I am still not clear what you mean, a violation of the Operation of law?

Even for some CRIMES, some states mandate a partial reimbursement of a court appointed attorney, and it does not violate the constitution's right to counsel if indigent, as this is to help defray costs/the administartion of justice.
