Craigs list obligation

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana
I listed something on craigslist and someone wanted to buy it. Well thats all fine and dandy and I told them I would sell it to them. BUT, then they said they lived in Nigeria and they wanted to pay via paypal. I did get an email conformation but I received no conformation on paypal.com itself. I told them I was backing out and they said the payment was already effective and I am obligated to send them the product. I did not confirm/accept any payment so as far as I'm aware, I am obligated to nothing...right? I have signed no contracts of any sort either.

ETA: And if you really need to ask these questions, maybe you shouldn't be selling ANYTHING on CraigsList!!!

...I just wanted to double check because I've never actually used my paypal and I didn't know if it auto accepted payments or anything like that:/
