What is the name of your state? Illinois

My husband is soon to be unemployed. We are currently paying on 13 medical bills. I have called all of them and have received various responses. Several of them have suggested filling out hardship papers at the hospital and then they will decide what to do based on the outcome of that.

Has anyone had any experience with this? The woman I spoke to said we needed to start the paperwork now even tho he isn't laid-off yet and we have no idea what his unemployment will be.

Our other problem is credit cards. We have four. I'm not sure how to go about handling them. Are they willing to work with you or are we going to have to look into filling bankruptcy?

Thank you.
