My neighbors will report me to the city for not cutting my lawn. I can only imagine what they would do au natural. Our lots are about 1/4 acre.
My lot's ~1 acre, as are my neighbor's. Most keep at least the back half of the back wooded. I let it extend pretty well up to the deck, though I do have a walking path cleared that loops to the back. Otherwise? I leave it. There's a landlocked lot just behind me (town-owned) that is also left wooded. You name local wildlife, and it has likely at least wandered through. I think my favorites are the little herd of deer - Doe and two sets of twin fawns (one set from last Spring, the other from this one past).

I do keep the front kept up...

My house is backed by one of the state arboretums. There's plenty of room for critters to frolic. They need to stay on their side of the fence.

It is always good to have set times. The two of you can agree to make changes but at least you have something to fall back on.

I'd also like to apologize for helping hijack your thread.

Sounds lovely! We live in what is "midtown" where the homes are as much as 70 years old and relatively dense. Our lots are some of the largest and are about 1/6 acre. We have a creek nearby and about 3 miles to a river and big park do most of the wildlife stays in the more densely wooded areas.

Some days I think I need to rent a cat to chase out the mice. I doubt I could get it to stalk the backyard.

Everyone needs a smile in times like this especially OPs who are in stressful situations.. OP, I hope you can take DD for a hike or to the zoo soon - or start a butterfly garden this spring.

Even just a bird feeder provides much joy. OP - consider a small garden that she can help with. If you don't have much space (like, to create a small plot), do one with pots - that's how I do mine. A few pots with tomatoes, others with beans, etc. Some with flowers. Kids get a lot out of growing things, getting their hands dirty. You'll need to do weeding/watering in between her time with you, but that's okay.

If I could also make another suggestion? Stop with the "visit" language. Your daughter is not a random person who is visiting you. It is your *parenting* time. You ARE her parent. Treat your time as such.

You also mentioned anger issues. I suggest that you enroll yourself in an anger management class so that you can show the judge that you truly are working on your anger issues.
It's true if this matter goes to a hearing in court It could a negative thing for having anger issues and your wife might take undue advantage of your anger issue. So first you need to overcome and should prove yourself a responsible father.
