Deeded easement purchaser by National Forest. Is it now public land?

I misunderstood the situation originally.

My last prior post describes whose permission you need.


Of course you would need permisssion of the Forest Service to traipse about their land.

First you need to know is if you are allowed on the Forest Service land. Just because it is publicly owned that doesn’t necessarily mean that the public is allowed on it.
If you are allowed on it, the next thing to determine is whether you are allowed to use the easement. For that you have to know exactly what the language of the easement says.
If the Forest Service is granted the right to control access to the easement, then you must get their permission. You either are allowed or not, and no payment to the Forest Service will change that.
If the lumber company retained the right to control the use of the easement, or set conditions on who can use it, then you may be able to negotiate with them for useage.
