Here's a tricky one. Hope there are some lawyers/gurus out there with answers.

In real estate matters, are there any time limits on collecting deficiency judgments?

For instance, a relative went into foreclosure three years ago, the bank sold the house for $20,000 less than the appraised value.

Now, the bank is trying to collect on the deficiency judgment.

Several weeks ago I found a forum that had a statement from an attorney saying deficiency judgments are not the same as civil judgments and have a shorter SOL.

Anyone heard about this?
